Habitat :Distributed worldwide in temperate and alpine regions, especially in Europe and Asia, North andSouth America, and New Zealand.

Description :A moderately tall perennial herb with an erect stem and large ovate leaves, it also has largeflowers that grow in orange-yellow clusters.Possible side effects include headache and overdosing could lead to nausea or vomiting. Use iscontraindicated in gastric or duodenal ulcers and hyperacidity and may not be tolerated well by those withhigh blood pressure or by expectant mothers.
Uses :Gentian has been used as an appetite stimulant and digestive aide. In Europe, alcoholic drinksare flavored with gentian and are consumed before heavy meals. Herbalists extol its use for fever, forstimulating menstrual flow, as an anthelmintic, or as an antiseptic.
