Habitat :Distributed in dry and cool regions in both the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. In the WesternHemisphere, this occurs in desert areas in the southwestern United States, part of Mexico, and a wide area inSouth America. In the Eastern Hemisphere, certain species occur in China and in the Himalayas, fromAfghanistan to Nepal and Tibet.

Description :Most species are branched shrubs or small trees while others are vinelike, often clambering overother vegetation.If dosage is monitored and restricted, including duration of consumption, Ma huang can treateffectively. However, side effects such as rapid heartbeat, increased blood pressure, palpitations,nervousness, headache, insomnia, or dizziness may occur, so caution should be taken.
Uses :Used as a very efficacious treatment of allergies, nasal congestion, and as a potent relief ofconstriction and congestion in bronchial asthma.
