Description : In India it is found in Punjab and U.P It is a smallplant usually found near rivers and along the seacoast.On its branches small Tuberculatous Galls are producedby puncture by Insects. These are globular in shapeand are about a size of a nutmeg or smaller in size.It occurs in Clusters and have a bitter Astringent taste.Constituents: Galls Yield Tannic acid. Galls are usedin powder form or decoction form.
Uses :On account of their bitter tonic and astringenteffect on the chjronic discharges and watery fluxes, also usedin the form of passaries. A strong infusion of them is a goodastringent Gargle in stomatitis and sore throat and a local applicationto foul sloughing ulcers and phagedenic Buboes also useful indysentery and diarrhea, as a mil laxative it causes soft motionswithout imitation of bowels.
