We cannot avoid adversities in life. We continue to endure and persevere, having one thing in mind - to come out victorious. 1. Lack of Confidence

Having the lack of confidence is the first motivation killer. It is usually because you are concentrating entirely on what you failed to have and neglecting what you already have. This constructs negative thoughts. Past failures and personal weaknesses dominate your mind. You become envious of your competitors and start making excuses for what you can't achieve. As a result, you tend to make a bad impression, assume the worst about others, and lose self confidence.

Clear your head and focus on gratitude, on every positive thing in your life. Make a mental list of your strengths, past achievements and current advantages. We tend to dwell on our failures and take our strengths for granted. This will help to restore your confidence and get you motivated to build on your current success.

As strange as this may sound, repeating things you already know can improve your mindset, plus, it is amazingly effective! The mind distorts reality to confirm what it wants to believe. The more optimistic you think, the more examples your mind will discover to confirm that belief. The thing is, when you truly believe that you deserve success, your mind will produce ways to achieve it.

2. Lack of Focus

If you don't know what you want, do you really want anything?

Lack of focus is the second motivation killer. How often do you focus on what you want, rather than on a single concrete goal? We normally think in terms of fear. We want more money so we don't end up being broke. We want a big house, so we won't be homeless. The problem is that we have to know that fear alone is not actionable. Unless we do something about our fear, it will only sit on itself and mentally drain us.

The first step is to focus that energy on a distinct goal. By determining a goal, you automatically determine a set of actions. If you have a goal to get out of poverty, work on a plan to increase your income. Here, we aim to move from an imperceptible desire to concrete, measurable steps.

By emphasizing your mind on a positive goal instead of an equivocal fear, you put your brain to work. It instantly begins contriving a plan for success. Instead of wasting your time away worrying about the future, you start to do something about it. This is the first step in motivating yourself to take action. When you know what you want, you become motivated to take action.

3. Lack of Direction

If you don't know what needs to be done, how can you be motivated to do it?

The ultimate piece in the motivational puzzle is direction. A lack of direction kills motivation because without an apparent next action, we succumb to procrastination. There is success in continuity of purpose. Otherwise, you'll just go in circles. The key to finding direction is to distinguish the activities that lead to success. For every goal, there are activities that pay off and there are some that don't.
