A glimpse of the India Herbs Team and our Core Values
Our work does not revolve merely around our desk and our computers; it revolves around our beliefs and everyone else in the company. Having a professional company culture is extremely important to us yet a part of our culture is characterized by a family-like atmosphere.
A few months ago, we were asked what our opinions on our culture. We were enlightened with the different perceptions received. They were rather impressive and now we have summed all them up in our four core values:
1. Honor - Be Honorable and Purposeful.
In all aspects, we strive to do what is right by choosing the hard right versus the convenient wrong. We are driven by knowing our higher purpose by heart - that we make up not just a business entity but a movement to build and help people significantly with the hope that our presence makes other people's lives worth living.
2. Family - Ensure a happy team spirit.
We acknowledge the importance of trust and respect in the workforce. We give value to people by accepting their individuality and honoring their contribution. We believe that each one in the company is equally significant to the whole. We are stewards of camaraderie. We go beyond professional lines to treat each other like brothers and sisters worthy of our special attention and compassion in bad times. As a family, we anticipate conflict and also know that despite conflict, we will always move forward in a spirit of love, forgiveness, and mutual respect. We are committed to each other, to the company and its mission and vision. We believe that the greater the loyalty of a group toward the group, the greater is the motivation among the members to achieve the goals of the group, and the greater the probability that the group will achieve its goals.
3. Excellence - Go the Extra Mile
We surprise people by meeting even their unrecognized needs. So, in service, performance, and even in relationships developed in and out of the workplace, we go the extra-mile. GEM means "Go the Extra Mile". We are never satisfied or complacent. We continually look onwards by constantly implementing new ideas to improve processes, offerings, and services. Fully utilize your skills and develop your skills so you do not need to rely on others to bail you out. We inspire individuals to realize their maximum potential. We are zealous about learning and sharing ideas to help them grow where they are planted.We do not see our job as a source of income alone but a profession and a calling to give us a deeper sense of fulfillment - which is conveyed in the quality of our work.
4. Humility - Be Humble.
We encourage everyone in the team to remain humble. We consider that everyone has something valuable to give and should be treated accordingly. Credit goes to the team effort not any one individual.
Having and instilling the company core values are two different things. One is merely having them and not living their meaning. The latter is having strong belief in every word on it and actually practicing them. Without belief, we are nothing but a bunch of robots hired to do our work without even acknowledging the greater prize of belonging to the team.
It has been proven that a healthy working environment boosts revenue. It may not be as straight forward as clinching a deal or a sale, but having this kind of relationship in the workplace strengthens the understanding on why people are hired in the first place, then knitting each one as part of a whole. At India Herbs, we have learned the essence of shared responsibility, believing that every one of us has a part in the realization of our greater success.
We work hard, and we play hard just the same. Team events are planned regularly in our company calendar to strengthen our bonds. Amidst all the tension at work, our team events always get everyone hyped up!
